“A district is a geographical unit containing the right number of groups—right in terms of the committee’s ability
to keep in frequent touch with them, to learn their problems, and to find ways to contribute to their growth
and well-being.” – AA Service Manual p. S30
“The General Service Representative has the job of linking his or her group with AA as a whole. The GSR
representes the voice of the group conscience, reporting the group’s thoughts to the District Committee
Member and to the delegate, who passes them on to the Conference. This communication is a two-way street,
making the GSR responsible for bringing back to the group Conference Actions that affect AA unity, health,
and growth. Only when a GSR keeps the group informed, and communicates the group conscience, can the
Conference truly act for AA as a whole.” – AA Service Manual p. S 25
In the AA Service Manual, attending district meetings is listed under the “duties” of a GSR on p. S 25.
Area 27 Assembly
“The area holds an important middle position in the Conference structure—through the elected delegate,
it participates in AA worldwide, while through the DCMs and GSRs, it is close to the local scene.”
Our "Area" covers the entire state of Louisiana, and is listed as Area number 27.
Assemblies are currently held quarterly on pre-determined dates at the Holiday Inn South in Baton Rouge
